Featuring the classic black and gold colors, the Sahara is whisper quiet, ultra smooth and it you prefer to play fish by back winding, there is an anti-reverse facility to complement the slick front drag. The first thing you’ll notice when using the Sahara is how smooth, quiet and deceptively powerful it is when rotating, especially when playing fish under pressure. This is due to a combination of HAGANE Gear, X-SHIP and Silent Drive. This technical trilogy is usually found on Shimano’s higher priced reels, and is an unexpected bonus for all Sahara owners.

PRODUCT TECHNOLOGIES:

The HAGANE DRIVE Gear is produced by Shimano’s coldforging technology, without the need for additional machining. This delivers a longlasting smoothness, strength, lightness
and power at the very heart of the reel. Traditional diecast, machined gears are less durable under heavy loads.

X-SHIP is a combination of features that work together to create much greater efficiency. By positioning the pinion gear close to the center line of the large diameter drive gear, more power is transferred from the handle to the rotor. The pinion gear is also supported by two Shimano ARB roller bearings. This creates more stability.

SILENT DRIVE - Removed ‘clicking’ sound and ‘handle play’ and overall improved smooth reeling.

G FREE BODY - G Free Body technology has been developed to shift the reel’s center of gravity closer to the rod. This has been achieved by moving the worm shaft oscillation mechanism 19mm from the bottom of the reel to the top. By moving the center of gravity closer to the anglers hand position, the G Free Body helps to reduce fatigue and enhance casting comfort.

Shimano ARC Spool is a patented spool design with an angled spool lip. This design enables the line to leave the spool with less friction and in smaller coils resulting in longer more accurate casts. ARC spools are proven to reduce backlash and wind knots when using braid. 

S A-RB - A-RB is the industry's first “surface modification” to form a “passive layer” and realize a bearing that keeps rust away. In addition, SA-RB is a product that seals the sides with a rust-proof material and significantly reduces salt debris caused by salt recrystallization inside the bearing.

SALTWATER OK - Shimano's unique high-performance bearings that do not attract rust, S A-RB and A-RB, and anti-corrosion treatment on the exterior make it safe for sea fishing. We recommend washing with a shower after use so that you can use it comfortably for a long time.
